Competitions

We have been involved in many different Japanese competitions, but the one which dominates the annual calendar is the Nihongo Cup - the national Japanese Language Speech Competition held each year in June at the Japanese Embassy in London.
In addition to the Nihongo Cup, South Wolds regularly enters Haiku Competitions, and our students' sushi making video (which can be viewed on the Learning Resources videos page) won the 2005 British Council EU People-to-People competition.
The Musubi Project has recently won a European Award for Languages 2010, Charlotte, Ella, Jenny and Beth went to the prize giving event in London at the Emirates stadium with Mrs Rajakumar to collect the award. Here is the evaluation of the project from the National Centre for Languages website.
We have also won a runner-up prize in the Japan Webpage Contest for schools 2010 with this website thanks to the Japan Foundation, and from the prize giving event in London at the Japanese Embassy which James and Mrs Rajakumar attended.
Here are some pictures from the event and an audio file from a local radio station covering the award.
